Sarah Dalton

Sarah Dalton has been working with children and teachers for 23 years. After walking into a 4th grade classroom as a substitute teacher at a Department of Defense school in Sicily, Italy, in 1984 she knew she did not need to look any further to find her “career”.

After returning to the United States Sarah worked as a teacher, then director of a non-profit daycare center in Bucks County, Pennsylvania for several years. She earned her public school teaching certification at SUNY Cortland, where she had earned her B.A. in Speech Communications the decade before. There she became impassioned by the work of Dr. Thomas Lickona, who assisted her in framing her philosophy of education through his pioneering work in character education. After another period of teaching overseas, Sarah moved to Connecticut, where she earned a masters degree in Special Education and taught in the West Hartford Public Schools.

In January 2005, Sarah’s career was enhanced when she took a leave of absence from teaching and spent six months studying at the Onondaga School for Therapeutic Massage in Syracuse, New York, becoming a licensed massage therapist.

Schooling aside, Sarah has committed to building and living a spiritual life through her daily choices and actions, which she has brought to her teaching of children. Among teaching that the most important rule is the “golden rule”, conflict resolution, good nutrition, yoga positions , brief meditations , therapeutic touch, and digital photography have all made their way into her experiences with children, often systematically. She has also taught workshops to fellow teachers on meditation and mindfulness, knowing how these skills can enhance any stressful lifestyle.

Sarah offers spiritual knowledge that has come through reading, conferences, workshops, experiences of worship and healing, and daily meditation. She also knows how to connect with children naturally and to explain things in a way they can understand and relate to. It is with great excitement that she looks forward to sharing what she has learned to children and parents alike !

She looks forward to teaching children about the things in life she believes are most important, because as she believes, “we are spiritual beings having a human experience”.
